The word wealth was never only about money
How wealthy is your whole life?
The six vital signs of a lived legacy.
The word wealth was never only about money
At the root of wealth is weal, an old English word for well-being. To be wealthy, at the word's origin, is to be well in your whole life. Somewhere along the way, the definition narrowed to money, assets, and possessions. Here at LivWeal®, we believe the original definition was the true one, so we have restored it. We call it Wholistic Wealth, and we spell it with a W because it means whole: your whole life, and not only your finances. The usual spelling, holistic, was built from a Greek word. With the W, the word joins the family of whole, heal, and health. Being well in your whole life is true wealth.
Six currencies, and money is one of them
We believe your whole life has six parts that can be rich or poor: your energy, your emotions, your mind, your relationships, your body, and your money. We call them the six currencies, because each one is something you give and receive.
Money is one of the six, and it belongs there. It is the only currency you can count and keep in a vault, which is why it came to stand in for all the others. It was never meant to carry that much. A person can be rich in money and poor in energy, or rich in relationships and poor in rest. Most people already know this about their own lives. What they have rarely had is a way to see all six at once.
The currencies nobody counts
The Wholistic Wealth Method™ is how we read the six currencies, the way a physician reads vital signs. Each currency is somewhere between depleted and overflowing, and the reading puts all six in front of you at once, so that you can see where your life is rich, where it is steady, and where it has been running on empty without anyone naming it.
That last part is the point. Accomplished people are rarely poor in the currency they can count. They are poor in the ones nobody counts, and what goes uncounted goes untended. The reading counts them. It shows you the currency that has been quietly carrying the cost of the others, and the one that is overflowing and has more to give. It passes no verdict. Sometimes a currency runs low because life happened: an illness, a market, a loss. It simply shows you the whole, which is the one thing most people have never been shown.
The first reading is taken with a guide, in conversation, because it is hard to see a life whole from inside it. After that, it is yours, as often as is useful to you.
Your legacy is made of all six currencies
Legacy is what we entrust to others to carry forward, and a lived legacy is that entrusting done now, on purpose, while you are here to enjoy it. What gets entrusted forward is not the estate alone. It is the life as it is being lived, in all six currencies. The people near you inherit your energy and your rest, your openness and your guardedness, your honesty, your habits with money, the way you treat them and the way you treat yourself. Every one of the six is passed on, the ones you are rich in and the ones you are poor in alike.
That is why we call the six currencies the vital signs of a legacy: they are read while the legacy is still being lived. Taking the reading is a way of asking, in the present tense, the question every legacy eventually answers: Is the life I am living right now the one I want to send forward? When the answer is yes, the reading tells you what to protect. When it is not yet, it tells you where to begin.
Direction first, then a reading
The Lived Legacy Approach™ and the Wholistic Wealth Method™ answer two different questions. The Lived Legacy Approach™ answers: What life and legacy do I want, and how will I live it? It sets the direction. The Wholistic Wealth Method™ answers: How is my life doing right now? It is the reading you take along the way, so that a legacy designed on purpose stays on course, and so that the life you are sending forward is the one you meant to.
Together they come down to one question we think every accomplished person deserves to be asked, and to answer honestly: How wealthy am I, in my whole life?
Legacy is how the way we live becomes part of the world others inherit.
Live Your Legacy.
If you would like to take the first reading in conversation, we would be glad to.
